Growing up in “Los Llanos,” my childhood was full of Venezuelan folklore and cultural traditions. The harp, the cuatro and the maracas weren’t just instruments; they were the heartbeat of the basis of our regional compositions.
I, as a patriotic Venezuelan, am not prepared to let our culture die. It is rather a chance to encourage others and to revive people’s confidence and bring attention to our common history. My project is to narrow the gap between the Venezuelans at home and in abroad.
Venezuelan folklore, which is the combination of Indigenous, African, and Spanish traditions, reflects the country’s multi-ethnic character. The movement began as a resistance during the colonial times and emphasizes the country’s identity through music, dance and storytelling.
Venezuelan cultural heritage has been preserved and promoted through music with the help of people full of passion and cultural groups alike. Take, for example, Corina Behrens’ project “Mis Raíces Venezolanas,” which serves as a model of the commitment to saving the Venezuelan musical traditions in the international scene.
Music becomes a tool of engaging the youth and the Venezuelans in the cultural knowledge and creating pride and bond in the heritage. One successful tactic is deploying digital platforms and social media to build online communities where people can express their experiences, memories, and love for the music from Venezuela.
Japan’s passion for Venezuelan culture is not only about listening to music, but also about music cuisine, poetry, and more. This is actually a sign of a deeper comprehension and admiration of the many, as a result of the diverse inputs and heritage that are often associated with Venezuelan identity. They enjoy the rhythm of the traditional joropo and the melodies of folk songs.
The traditional Venezuelan music has earned a place of honor in the world music stage with its own peculiar rhythms, melodies and cultural heritage. The music of Venezuela has greatly benefited from a number of significant personalities who have are the shift in the international music scene.
