Make Venezuela the Soundtrack of Your Life

ABOUT

“Make Venezulea theSoundtrack of Your Life'” is not only a project but also the very essence of me. Growing up in “Los Llanos,” my childhood was full of Venezuelan folklore and cultural traditions. The harp, the cuatro and the maracas weren’t just instruments; they were the heartbeat of the basis of our regional compositions. This heritage left a very rich imprint on me, which defined me and inspired lifelong love for music. Music has always been an integral part of our family’s history. From my great-grandmother perfecting the piano to my cousin gracefully playing the violin, I was surrounded by a legacy of musical talent.

ABOUT

My very own way with music started with a choice to learn how to play the piano, which unveiled my heart to the force of artistic expression. However, the moment of my breaking point came during the summer camp in Switzerland that really fired up my inner motivation. Among people originated from different cultures, I learned to appreciate my country and gladly share its virtues with others. Surprisingly, many had no idea about my country or its distinctive cultural texture. The feeling of disconnection from my own heritage among some of my fellow Venezuelans became more disappointing.

Certainly, this was an eye-opening moment for me as it drove my motivation to act. I, as a patriotic Venezuelan, am not prepared to let our culture die. It is rather a chance to encourage others and to revive people’s confidence and bring attention to our common history. My project is to narrow the gap between the Venezuelans at home and in abroad. In particular, I will focus on bringing together the young generation, which is an enormous one and is more disconnected from their cultural identification.

ABOUT

With “Make Venezuela the Soundtrack of Your Life,” I try to awaken the desire to explore our Venezuelan culture and realize its importance. Through highlighting the beauty of Venezuelan music as well as the socio-cultural diversity, I aim to reconnect Venezuelans with their roots and make the younger generation pick up their tradition proudly. Together we can be the ones who will make sure that this wonderful cultural heritage, both in our hearts and in the hearts of generations to come, will be cherished by many.

Brief history and significance Of Venezuelan folklore

Venezuelan folklore, which is the combination of Indigenous, African, and Spanish traditions, reflects the country's multi-ethnic character. The movement began as a resistance during the colonial times and emphasizes the country's identity through music, dance and storytelling. Nowadays, the folklore of Venezuela is a living tradition that is always changing but keeps its essence. It becomes their comfort, their fortification, their cohesion, which links Venezuelan people across generations and borders.
